WHAT OYVEY IS

OyVey is a real Yiddish exclamation. Translate it as oh god, for crying out loud, what fresh disaster is this. The comedic frustration. We named the department after it because that's the energy: things that make you laugh because they're true and because they're absurd, sometimes both at once.
Anything funny about OyPizza in any format. The format genuinely doesn't matter. A six-word parody dish name. A 90-second TikTok. A meme. An AI-generated image of Walter dressed as a rabbi-pope-wizard hybrid. A standup bit you wrote on the train. A photo of a sign with a clever caption. A roast.
We are not above ourselves. The brand has a thesis and a logo and a 2027 venue plan and a Yiddish-Italian-Mexican-Korean fusion concept and we know how absurd that sounds when you say it out loud. OyVey is the department where the brand laughs at itself first.

HOW VOTING WORKS
Submit. We review. Community votes.
Submit any format. Title, format type, file or text, optional context. OyVey is the one department where every submission is reviewed before going public — we want to keep this a place that punches up, not at real people. Most submissions are live within 24 hours.
Once live, members vote and react. Founder Badge holders' votes count for slightly more. Top of the week gets featured — on social, in the newsletter, on the wall at the venue when it opens.
Punch up at the brand. Punch sideways at the absurdity. Don't punch down at people. That's the whole rule.
Before you submit
What we can and can't do with what you submit.
OyPizza can: display your submission on our social channels, on signs at the venue, in our newsletter, on the website, on merch, with credit to you. That's the leverage we need to make the leaderboard mean something.
OyPizza can't: sublicense your work to a third party, claim it as our own, use it without your handle attached, or charge other people money for it. Your work, our window.
You can: do anything with your own submission. Tour with the joke, sell the print, post the clip, put it in your book. Your rights, fully retained, except for the OyPizza-channel use above.
If that exchange doesn't feel right, please don't submit. No hard feelings.

- Q: Can OyPizza put my joke on a t-shirt? A: Yes — on OyPizza merch, with credit.
- Q: Can someone else? A: No. We don't sublicense.
- Q: Can I use my joke on my own merch? A: Always.
- Q: Can I take it down? A: Yes — email us, it's gone within a week from all channels.
